Roadmap
// what shipped, what's coming, what we're thinking about
This page is a running picture of where Bitaxe Baller is headed. Everything in recently shipped is live in the current build. Items in coming next are concrete commitments. Under consideration is the idea pool โ your input shapes which ones become real.
recently shipped (v1.7)
- Real Windows installer (Inno Setup). Start Menu shortcut, Add/Remove Programs entry, per-user install. No more loose
.exe + extract step.
- In-app update notifications. The dashboard checks GitHub for newer releases on page load and surfaces a banner when one exists. Per-version dismissal.
- Pickaxe icon in the Windows taskbar (AppUserModelID fix).
- ~2 seconds faster cold start on Windows after moving back to one-folder install layout.

coming next
Multi-model support โ free tier
Tuning presets and expected-hashrate coefficients for the Supra (BM1368) and Ultra (BM1366), not just Gamma. Right now the recommendation engine is calibrated only for the BM1370 โ owners of older boards see tuning suggestions that are technically valid but not optimal for their chip. Multi-model support fixes that.
Pro tier โ paid
The paid tier is being scoped now. Confirmed features below; pricing model and ship date will be announced when ready. Sign up for the newsletter to hear first.
- True in-place auto-updates. Chrome-style โ app downloads new version in the background, prompts to install, restarts itself. The free-tier banner notification is the awareness layer; Pro adds the actual install flow.
- Bulk tuning across selected devices. Multi-select cards on the home page, apply a preset or custom settings to all selected at once. The most-requested usability win when running multiple miners.
- Auto-tune sweeps with HW-error guardrails. Automated frequency + voltage sweeps that probe each chip's actual stable ceiling. Backs off on HW-error spikes; records last known good; suggests a personalized preset based on measured headroom.
- Long-term history. Free tier keeps a rolling 1h window in memory plus daily CSVs. Pro adds a persistent local SQLite store with hashrate, temps, efficiency, HW errors going back weeks and months.
- Alerts. Push notifications when a device goes offline more than N minutes, or when HW-error rate spikes past a threshold. Channels: email, Discord webhook, Telegram. Per-device toggles so benchmark runs don't page you.
under consideration
Ideas we're tracking but haven't scoped or committed. The order things ship in depends partly on what the community most wants โ if any of these matter to you, let us know.
- Fleet across networks โ cloud relay so you can monitor remote sites (vacation home, friend's basement, colo) without VPN setup
- Read-only HTTP API โ feed metrics into Grafana / Datadog / your personal dashboard
- Custom rule engine โ user-defined alerts ("if VR temp > 75 ยฐC AND hashrate < 1.1 TH/s for 5 min then page me")
- Bench / burn-in mode โ guided multi-hour stability test that varies voltage/frequency systematically and emits a report
- Baseline drift detection โ "your Gamma is hashing 4% below its 30-day average" alerts, built on the long-term history
- Pool fee optimization recommendations โ track payouts across pools and suggest switches
stays free, forever
To be unambiguous about what the free tier covers and what won't ever be paywalled:
- Live polling, tooltips, manual tuning, fan control
- The network scanner, pool / stratum config, mDNS publishing
- The tuning recommendation engine (rule-based suggestions on every device)
- The 5 built-in presets (Stock / Mild / Balanced / Aggressive / Max) for every supported chip model
- CSV logging to your local disk
- Light / dark theme
- The update-notification banner shipped in v1.7
- The desktop app itself โ open source, MIT licensed
Pro is additive. Nothing in the current free tier moves behind a paywall.

Three ways to suggest a feature or report what you'd find useful:
- GitHub Discussions โ Public idea board. Upvote existing ideas with ๐, post new ones, see what other Bitaxe owners are asking for. Free GitHub account required. This is where new ideas get prioritized first.
